Emerge

EMERGE is our leadership development component at First Congregational Church.  The word "emerge" itself means, "to come forth from obscurity", and our hope is to enable those men and women in our church whom God is calling to take the lead in various ministries in our church to do just that - to come forth from obscurity, and take the lead.  We hope to accomplish this in primarily three ways.

First, we want to help each person in our church understand what skills they naturally possess as a leader, and how their personality plays a role in their leadership style.  Second, we want to build on that by examining more closely what kind of leader you are by looking at what the best environment might be for you to take the lead.  When should you take the lead?  What kind of people are most likely to follow you?  And what are some things that you need to watch out for as you lead?  Finally, we want to offer opportunities to grow in leadership in an environment that is safe, and comfortable.  For that reason, we want to offer small groups with leadership as their main focus.  Meeting for roughly twelve weeks, these small groups will be  a place to discover  together the different facets that make up  leadership.  Primarily built around a particular book or video series, the group will learn together what are the characteristics of a leader, how to develop as a leader, how to begin to develop those around you to lead, et.  It is in this venue that we believe that our leadership will really begin to "emerge".

So if you feel that God is calling you into leadership and want to discover how to grow in that, let us know.  Contact Pastor Robert Tansill at www.rtansill@fcchamilton.org.   He'll be happy to answer any of your questions.

"The church worldwide is in need of a committed group of disciples, like those past leaders,
who can lead the way by demonstrating through their lives a faith worth imitating."
