Welcome to "The Core"! The purpose of this ministry
is to help you grow in your faith, but with a specific plan in mind. Our goal is three-fold: (1) to help you
grow in your reliance upon God the Father, His Son, Jesus, and the Holy
Spirit, (2) to help you grow in your knowledge of God's Word, and (3)
to help foster closer relationships with other believers. How
do we accomplish this?
One way this
goal is accomplished is by using specific materials which are grounded
in the Bible, and which seeks to apply on a daily basis what was learned. Our mission is to "engage your mind and your heart for Jesus
Christ", and these materials help to accomplish that mission.
Another way of meeting this goal is by limiting the size and make-up
of these CORE groups. Typically, CORE groups are gender-specific,
and are no larger than four people per group. By maintaining this
standard it ensures that those in the group feel the freedom to discuss
issues in a comfortable environment while also giving everybody involved
an opportunity to participate. Our final way of meeting this goal
is by calling each individual involved in a group to make a commitment.
What
does this commitment involve? Primarily, each participant
is making a commitment to the others in their group to faithfully
attend every meeting, to actively participate
in the group, to not discuss confidential matters with anybody
outside of the group, and to support each other through prayer and
encouragement.
How can
you be a part of a CORE Group? First, find three
friends who are willing to commit one to two hours a week to be a part
of your group. Together you will decide on a time and
place to meet once a week. Second, contact Pastor Robert
Tansill (rtansill@fcchamilton.org) or Shelly Moran (shellym@comcast.net)
about your desire to launch your group. Third, decide which specific
material would best fit with your group, purchase it, and
off you go. It's that easy!
The next step
is yours! If you want to grow in your faith in Christ, you have
to be intentional about it. Make that commitment, and invite a
few friends to join you. We'll help you with the rest.
Take
My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for
I am gentle and humble in heart,
and
YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS."
Matt.
